Competition rules

The rules shall be in accordance with the rules of the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF) for the year 2025 and the rules of Saitama Marathon 2026.

Runners with disabilities who have difficulty running alone may be accompanied by an escort runner (up to two escort runners in the wheelchair category). (In the marathon category, the runners may take turns only at the 20 km point.) However, guide dogs are not allowed to accompany runners. Runners must arrange their own escort runner.

The time limit is based on the starting gun. The final runner in the marathon and 8km category may take up to 20 minutes to cross the start line after the gun is sounded.

The top 3 men and women overall finishers in the marathon category of the Saitama Marathon 2025 will be invited to participate in the marathon (6 runners in total), as well as the 1st place men and women who is a resident of Saitama City and Koshigaya City.

Entries will be accepted on the official website of the event (https://saitama-marathon.jp/entry/ ). Entries will close as soon as the maximum number is reached.

When applying, you need to register as a RUNNET member (free) in advance.

Additional entry fee will be charged: 240 JPY (including tax) for amounts under 4,000 JPY, and 6.0% of the total payment (including tax) for amounts over 4,001 JPY.

Those who donate 50,000 JPY or more to Saitama City Hometown Support Program may participate in the marathon category of the race (50 runners, on a first-come, first-served basis, only for those who live outside Saitama City). Those who donate 75,000 JPY or more may participate in either the Premium Runner quota or the Beginner Support quota (5 runners per quota, on a first-come, first-served basis, only for those who live outside Saitama City). More details will be available on the official website of the event, the official website of Saitama City, and other websites.

Competition method
  1. In each category, those unable to finish within the time limit, the competition will be cancelled.
  2. For the marathon and 8km category, barriers will be set for traffic, security, and competition management. In addition, the competition will be canceled if there is a significant delay even at points other than the checkpoint.
  3. Competitors who have passed the barrier closing time or who have been ordered to stop the race shall remove their athlete bibs (number cards) and get into the designated accommodation vehicles. (except for the first barrier).
Commendation

<Marathon category, 8km category>

  1. Marathon category: 1st-8th place overall for men and women 《Gross Time》.

    An awards ceremony will be held on the day of the race, where certificates and supplementary prizes will be presented.

  2. Marathon category:1st place overall in each age group for men and women 《Gross Time》.

    The age groups are 29 and under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. No awards ceremony; certificates will be sent at a later date.

  3. Marathon (Team race):Top 1-3 place 《Gross time/Total time of the top 3 entrants in each team》

    No awards ceremony; certificates and supplementary prizes will be sent at a later date.

  4. 8km category: Top 1-3 place overall for men and women 《Gross Time》.

    An awards ceremony will be held on the day of the race, where certificates and supplementary prizes will be presented.

  5. 8km category: 1st place overall in each age group for men and women 《Gross Time》

    The age groups are 29 and under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. No award ceremony on the day of the race; certificates will be sent at a later date.

No awards will be given.

Measurement/Finisher certificate
  1. There will be no time measurement in the wheelchair category and parent-child run category.
  2. Completion certificates will only be issued electronically on the official website of the race, and will not be issued in paper form.
About athlete bibs and measurement chips

Participation guide

As a general rule, the participation guide will not be sent in paper form, but will be distributed electronically.
Therefore, participants are requested to download the electronic data that will be uploaded to this website, save it on their smartphones, etc., or print it out for their own use. If you wish to receive the entry guide in paper form, it will be issued for a fee (500 JPY). If you wish to receive a paper copy of the entry form, a fee of 500 JPY will be charged. The paper copy will be sent together with the athlete’s bib, measurement chip, etc. in advance of the race.

Tournament program

The program will be distributed electronically. Those who wish to receive the program in paper form may do so for a fee (1,000 JPY). If you wish to receive the program in paper form, please indicate your preference in the confirmation field on the entry site (RUNNET) during the entry procedure. The paper copy will be sent together with the athlete’s bib, measurement chip, etc. in advance.

Handling of personal information
  1. Organizers, etc. recognizes the importance of personal information, comply with laws and related laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal information, and handle personal information based on the organizer’s personal information protection policy.
    In addition, the acquired personal information will be used for qualification screening of the event, program organization and creation, record announcement, official website, other communication necessary for event management and athletics , information on events related to the organizer, event sponsorship / It will be used for services provided by cooperating organization.
  2. This event may be broadcasted on television or via the Internet.
  3. Videos, photographs, articles, and personal records of the event may be used in TV, radio, newspaper and other media by the organizer or a third party approved by the organizer for the purpose of operation and publicity of the event.
Others
  1. If the event is canceled for reasons not attributable to the organizer, the entry fee will not be refunded.
  2. The organizer will not conduct a health check. It is your responsibility to participate in the best possible health.
  3. The organizer will provide first-aid measures for accidents that occur during the competition, but will not be held responsible thereafter.
Application terms
  • Cancellation after application for personal reasons is not possible, and the entry fee will not be refunded.
  • False declaration of age, records, etc., and participation by anyone other than the applicant will not be accepted. If fraud is discovered, not only will participation be revoked, but future applications for the event may be refused. In this case, the entry fee will not be refunded.
  • We do not refund overpayments or duplicate payments.
  • It is not possible to transfer the participation right other than “Yuzururu”. If a transfer is found, it will be disqualified.
  • In the event that the entrant has purchased official tournament merchandise at the time of entry and has transferred the right to participate in the tournament via Yuzure-ru, the transferee may choose to purchase the official tournament merchandise or return the merchandise. The transfer fee for the purchase shall be borne by the transferor. In the event that the transferee does not agree to purchase or return the merchandise, the transferee may be denied future entry to the tournament. In such cases, the entry fee will not be refunded.
  • The organizer will not be held responsible for any injuries, illnesses, incidents, accidents, etc. that occur during the event, except those caused intentionally or by gross negligence on the part of the organizer.
  • Entry fees will not be refunded if the tournament is cancelled due to disasters, weather conditions, incidents, accidents, infectious diseases, or other reasons beyond the control of the organizer.
  • The organizer is not responsible for delays in registration or payment due to problems with internet equipment or lines.
  • The right of portrait and right to publish applicant’s name, age, address (country name, name of prefecture or name of municipality name), video, photo etc. on television, newspapers, magazines, internet, etc. belong to the organizer.
  • This event will be held in compliance with domestic laws and regulations.
  • The organizer will hold the event in accordance with the tournament rules, etc., in addition to these application rules.
  • You may not be able to apply depending on the device, OS, and browser software you use.
  • Clothing that offends the law or public order and morals, or that makes political or religious statements, or that promotes a company, organization, or individual that is not recognized by the organizers will not be allowed. If the organizers deem any of these to be the case, they may disallow participation and cancel the competition even after the start. In such cases, entry fees will not be refunded.
  • Minors must obtain the consent of their parents before applying.
  • If the mailing address changes due to relocation, etc., the entrant must promptly change the information on the “My Page” of the entry site. The Company shall not be held responsible in the event that the applicant does not receive the advance mailing materials due to negligence of the change of address or for other reasons.
Prohibitions
    If the organizers deem any of the above to be applicable, they reserve the right to disallow participation in the event and to cancel the competition even after the start of the event. The rules and regulations established by the event, other laws and regulations, and the following acts are not permitted.
  • Objections to the statements in these Terms and Conditions.
  • Wearing clothing or personal effects that may be dangerous to other runners, such as those that may injure or cause other competitors to fall over, or covering the entire face (e.g., swords, sticks, armor, riveted clothing, etc. that may injure other runners upon contact. Carrying or carrying long or large objects such as streamers or flags. (Skirts with long hems, kimonos, etc., which are likely to cause falls).
  • Running that is likely to obstruct the path of other runners, such as multiple runners in a row.

  • Clothing intended to promote political or religious claims, advertising, etc.
  • Clothing that promotes or advertises the name of an individual, a specific region or organization, etc. that is not authorized by the organizer of the event.
  • The use of any item that may be misinterpreted by other runners as the starting signal and cause confusion in the operation of the event (e.g., lighting equipment that produces strong lights or flashes, whistles or whistles or fireworks that produce popping or explosive sounds) or any equipment that produces loud noise that may interfere with other runners.
  • Delayed actions such as dancing, acting, playing, or standing still at the start line, near the finish line, or on the course.
  • Any request for signatures, etc., from other competitors.
  • Attempting to obstruct the public from crossing any part of the course during the competition.
  • Any other entries not listed above that the organizer deems unsuitable to participate in the tournament.
