Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan K.K., sponsor of the Saitama Marathon 2025, and the Saitama Marathon 2025 will collaborate in the field of resource recycling. The “Saitama Marathon in Saitama Stadium” (sponsored by Saitama City and Saitama Sports Commission) will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, with the aim of reducing waste and promoting a sustainable society. The Saitama Marathon in Saitama Sports Commission (Saitama Sports Commission) will implement a horizontal PET bottle recycling initiative called “Bottle to Bottle” to reduce waste at the event and to promote sustainable society. The Saitama Marathon in Saitama Stadium is a related event that will be held prior to the Saitama Marathon 2025 (Sunday, March 16, 2025), and will include a pair run category and a 4-hour team run (general category and sweets category) for teams of 2 to 12 runners. Bottle to Bottle” process to be implemented at “Saitama Marathon in Saitama Stadium

Empty containers of beverages (PET bottled beverages) provided to runners at the water stations of the Saitama Marathon in Saitama Stadium will be collected, and PET bottles will be crushed, washed, and reused as raw materials to be used as containers for Coca-Cola products.

Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Co., Ltd. implemented a “Bottle to Bottle” initiative at the Saitama Marathon held on Monday, February 12, 2024 (Note 1). Aiming to further expand “bottle-to-bottle” initiatives, we will continue our efforts at the Saitama Marathon in Saitama Stadium and the Saitama Marathon 2025 this fiscal year. By reducing waste at these events, we will contribute to the sustainable operation of the marathons and the recycling of PET bottles.

Initiatives in the field of SDGs at the Saitama Marathon in Saitama Stadium

In the “Fourth Saitama City Basic Plan for General Waste Disposal” (Note 2), the City of Saitama presents the concept of promoting the 3Rs (Reduce: Reduce generation, Reuse: Reuse, Recycle: Reuse) in cooperation and collaboration with citizens and businesses, aiming to realize “the creation of a recycling-oriented city,” “Saitama. The concept is to promote 3R (Reduce: reduce generation, Reuse: reuse, Recycle: reuse and recycle) initiatives while cooperating and collaborating with each other and with the community. Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan K.K. aims to solve the problem of container-derived waste based on the “2030 Vision for Containers”(*3) and, sympathizing with the above concept of Saitama City, will implement this initiative in cooperation with Saitama City, aiming to contribute to resource recycling, especially the promotion of recycling.
